Stitching
Look for tight, even stitches. Especially around the buttonholes.
Lining
Full canvas > half canvas > fused. Pinch the lapel — if it separates from the fabric, it is canvased.
Buttons
Real horn or shell over plastic. Check the cuff buttonholes — functional ones (surgeons cuffs) signal quality.
